Do you ever feel like you stylist hop? Going from stylist to stylist, but you still can’t find someone who understands you and your hair? This is rough and we’ve all been there. There is really no guide on how to choose a stylist, which is why it can be so difficult. That's why we wanted to share some of the ways that we pair up our Boutique Babes with their stylists. We hope this helps you as well.
♡ What type of hair do you have? The hair type list is long: fine, thick, curly, coarse, blonde, brunette, red, etc. Each one of us has a very unique head of locks and it is important to find someone who understands them. When calling a salon or looking for a stylist, some good things to look for or ask for are their specialities. If you have fine, brunette hair try to find someone who specializes in this. This will give you the confidence that they have an abundance of experience for your hair type. ♡ Are they active? Social Media is huge in our industry and every stylist knows it. An active stylist who is passionate about their career will be posting and educating their followers on a regular basis. This is also a great place to look for their most common pictures and if they match your style, vibe and hair goals. ♡ Are they within your budget? Never feel afraid to ask about pricing. We promise you, it isn’t awkward and we want you to be informed. There is nothing worse than loving your hair to then be sticker shocked knowing you’ll never be able to return again. At Brooke Bauer Boutique, we go over pricing during your consultation to ensure we are both on the same page. We also offer a wide variety of stylists with different price ranges. If you want a long term stylist, this is important to know. ♡ Do you like them? If you’re struggling to find a stylist, I highly recommend doing a consultation prior to booking with them. Whether that be via phone or in person, consultations are a great way to feel someone out. Finding a hairstylist is like dating. Why do think it is so hard to leave your long-term stylist relationship? Which brings me to the last one… ♡ Don’t just stay to stay. If you’re feeling unhappy, bored or just not in love with your hair, you’re not with the right stylist. You should feel fresh and obsessed with your hair when you're leaving the salon. (unless you are working towards a long term hair goal, of course.) It truly is just like dating and you deserve to feel happy and confident. Did this information help? If you’re looking for a new stylist, #thebbbteam would love the opportunity to feel out if you are a good match. Click here to browse our team of stylists. XO, Brooke

Thanks for the tip that my hair type would matter a lot when choosing my stylist in a hair salon. I've always wanted to properly pull off a bob cut but the volume of my hair seems to be too thick for that. I wonder is there is a way to make my hair look less robust.

My electrical system has been having issues, and I'm not sure what to do about it. It makes sense that I would want to get my switchboard inspected. They would be able to ensure that it's properly maintained.

You made an interesting point when you talked about how social media is a good place to find a hairstylist that matches your vibe. When looking for a hair stylist, I would think that it would be a good idea to pay attention to online reviews. The reviews are going to tell you what kind of experience you are going to have.

Thank you for pointing out how you should find someone that may specialize in your hair type. My friend was telling me that she's been looking for a hair stylist for a while. I'll have to share this with her so she can try to find the best person for her.

It really helped when you said that we can find passionate stylists if they post a lot of things online related to their occupation. I will do my research to find the best hair salon here in Salt Lake City, Utah. There is a wedding that I will be attending next month which is why I need to get the best treatments to get a new color as well.

It was interesting when you explained that social media is the best resource for finding a hair stylist that matches your style. Using social media to find a hair stylist makes sense because you can see reviews left by other people. If a stylist gets a lot of positive reviews, they will probably help you get the look you are wanting.

I loved how you said to find a hairstylist who knows how to work with your hair type. My sister was at my house last night for dinner, and she told me about how she wants to dye her hair brown next week, so she wants to make sure she can find a good hairstylist. I'll pass these tips along to her as she searches for one to go to!

I love how you point out the importance of finding a hair stylist that knows how to work with your hair type. I have slightly curly hair that I think could be really curly if cut and cared for properly. I'll have to look into finding a nearby stylist that can help me learn how to care for my hair.

I've been looking for a new hairstylist to get a different hairstyle but couldn't seem to locate a good service provider until I got here. It's wonderful that you mentioned checking out the potential hair stylist's social media accounts to see if they are active there and to look at the hairstyles they have posted. This seems like it may be a good idea. I'll look into this and choose a lovely hairdresser. Thanks.

You made a great point about how social media is a great place to find pictures of a hair stylist's work to see if they match your style. My best friend is getting married next weekend, and she wants to get her hair colored before then. As she searches for the perfect hair stylist this week, I'll make sure she checks their social media.

It was interesting to know that each person has a very unusual head of locks. My friend wants to get box braids. I should advise her to look for a salon that specializes in hair braiding.

It's helpful to know that we'd consult with a hairstylist before choosing one. In a few months, my sister is getting married and is currently looking for a hairstylist to help her select her bridal look, so I'll make sure she reads your post. Thank you for the advice on pickling a hair stylist that you feel comfortable with.

I appreciate you mentioning that it's a good idea to ask for or seek out a stylist's specialties when calling a salon or looking for one. My mom desires to attend a party. I'll advise her to visit a hair salon if she wants her hair to look great.
