Have you ever wondered what the REAL truth is about extensions? Can you wear your hair up? YES! With hand-tied extensions you can wear your hair up and no one will even see your tracks. FACTS! My hair will look fake. No, they will not. Here at Brooke Bauer Boutique our stylist custome color your extensions to seamlessly blend with your root color and ends. It costs too much money. Yes, the initial investment is where the most money is being spent and that is for the hair. With hand-tied extensions the hair will last 9 months to a year! Yes, a year! As long as you follow our guidelines of care they should last you the full 12 months. Hair Extensions will ruin my hair. False! If your hair extensions are installed, removed, and cared for properly your hair wont suffer. All of our stylists are properly trained in the installing and removing process and we are always looking for new and advanced ways to keep your locks from becoming damaged. I am too active to have hand-tied extensions. Hand-tied Extensions are totally doable for an active lifestyle. I myself work out 3 times a week and while there are precautions I need to take like blow drying the root of my wefts if they get wet from swimming or avoiding saunas where it will weigh down my hair from the tension, they are extremely easy to function and put up in a bun when needed. Are you feeling more comfortable with hand tied extensions after this debunking? Click the link below to book a consultation with one of our Extension specialist.

Hi Everyone,
We know we have been a bit absent with the blogs lately but we are back and ready to help you transition that summer hair into fall. Some ways you can do that are simple. You can add half low lights if you’re feeling like you’re not ready to go fully dimensional but want just a bit of that fall feel. A dimensional balayage can help break up that all over color you have being feeling stagnant with. If you’re feeling a little too dark or a little too light and have extensions and don’t want to damage your hair with color or bleach another good option would be throwing in a few new wefts of color like I did. Also, coming in for a glaze to slightly change it up without having that permanent color last months. Fall is that time to get rid of all of those unwanted tones that the sun has done to our hair. Have you started thinking about your fall hair yet? Set up a consultation with one of our amazing stylists to discuss those new hair goals! xox Do you have past trauma with your hair getting straw like after being in the pool all day or even for a little bit?
Did you know that the sun can actually damage your hair?
That's right, it's not just heat from your curling iron that's causing damage! The UV rays along with the heat from the summer sun can cause your hair to become discolored, dry and even brittle. We know it's not practical to keep your hair out of the sun but here are some tips to help control the amount of damage you get in these hot summer months!
Are you struggling with postpartum hair loss?
There are so many hormonal changes throughout pregnancy and everyone notices changes in their hair. Most commonly, women do not shed hair as they normally would without being pregnant. After pregnancy when you have a drop in estrogen, all the hair that wasn’t shed throughout pregnancy falls out. This is why it may seem like an overwhelming amount of hair loss. Here is some information to get you through this time. It IS normal Like you read above, your hair does not shed throughout pregnancy. This is why your hair is extra thick and luscious. The average person loses 100 strands a day. Now imagine holding onto those extra 100 strands and then shedding them all at once. That is basically what you are going through. It is normal, you are not alone. If you’re breastfeeding, your hair loss may not begin until you wean, because of hormones as well. Supplements to try We highly recommend staying on your prenatal vitamin, as this will help. You can also try hair, skin and nails or collagen as well. Other tips There are lots of ways you can enhance your hair throughout the hair loss process. Different cuts, colors or even changing your part can help disguise hair loss. There are only semi-permanent and permanent extensions options as well. Interested in a consultation regarding your postpartum hair loss? We would love to help 5 ways to keep your hair happy and healthy while lightening.
Going blonde is a process and not always an easy one. How do we ensure that our hair won’t get damaged during the journey? Here are the top 5 ways to keep your hair healthy during your Blonding journey. 1. It’s very important to make sure you have a stylist who specialize in blonding. Here at Brooke Bauer Boutique we all specialize in different things for a reason.😊 Having a stylist that knows what they are doing means that know how to take care of your hair during the process. A stylist number one goal should always be to keep the integrity of your hair. 2. Everything Kevin Murphy! At Brooke Bauer Boutique we use Kevin Murphy’s color line as well as product line. His color line was created to be very gentle on the hair. It is ammonia free, sulfate free, and PPD free. There are also 5 different types of lighteners in his line, created for different needs. His clay lightener is used specifically for hand painting or a balayage. Powder lightener that is used for foil work. Ammonia free powder lightener which is also used for foil work but is made to be extremely gentle on the hair. He also has 2 cream lightener which hydrate the hair while lightening. 3. Trusting your stylist. We know this can be hard when you have a set end goal but putting your trust in your stylist is important. Because our number one goal is to keep the integrity of your hair it could be a possibility we suggest going a different route or not lightening your hair at the time. We always want to come up with a hair plan to get you to your goal. 4. At home care. This is where the most damage is caused. After a lightening session it’s important to give your hair a break. Don’t wash it for a few days. Washing it too soon can strip your glaze/ toner out. Making sure when you wash your hair you are using the correct products. Ask your stylist for recommendations. Also, wearing you hair up often can can more harm then good. Wearing you hair up for long periods of time can actually cause breakage! 5. Heat styling. We love styling our hair here at Brooke Bauer Boutique, but it’s important to protect the hair from all that heat! Heat protectant is a must! This is going to help protect your blonde from breakage over time! If you haven't noticed, 90s trends are coming in full circle and we personally love it!!
Top Hair Accessories we see are Chunky Headbands, Oversized Scrunchies, Bandanas, Hats and even a Pearl Barrette. Just don't wear them all together, haha. Summer can really damage your hair. Between the powerful rays from the sun to the constant washing because we get a tad greasier in the summer months. This is a very commonly asked question we get from our guests in the salon. So, here are some helpful tips from our stylist Sandra.
-Use deeply hydrating masks and conditioners every week in order to nourish your hair. ~ Avoid direct sunlight to your scalp as much as possible. Wear a hat or scarf covering over hair to prevent damage or sunburn to scalp. ~ Buy yourself a good hair oil like, Kevin.Murphys Young.Again. Hair oils help remove frizz and dryness without damaging your locks. You can use hair oils after you shampoo. Make sure to dry well before applying the oil from ends to tip. ~ Hold off on heat styling Where you can, avoid styling your hair with heated tools, like a straightening iron or a hairdryer. Your hair can do without the high levels of heat when you’re prepping for a summer vacation. Instead, go for tool-free hairstyles; one way is braiding wet hair and shaking it loose when dry for dreamy waves. ~Want to go natural ? If you want to try natural alternatives, you can go with apple cider vinegar conditioner or coconut oil and Shea butter. We hoped all of these small tips helped! xoxo Have you been feeling like some of the color your stylist uses on you bother your scalp or cause a reaction? The most common cause of that is due to the harsh chemicals in the color. There is a solution for this! You can use Ammonia Free color- Ammonia is a chemical compound that can cause the hair strands to break, making the hair very brittle especially if you tend to color your hair a lot. Ammonia free is far less damaging to the hair, along with organic or natural products. You can also use PPD free color- PPD is a chemical found in temporary tattoos, printer ink and gasoline. (Scary right!?) It is what gives most women a chemical reaction when they get their hair done. Here at Brooke Bauer Boutique we care about the integrity of your hair. With that being said we make sure that we use products that are both Ammonia free and PPD free, Kevin Murphy. Kevin Murphy's color is honey based hair color with pomegranate and shea butter. It is formulated to be gentle on the hair and scalp, while exceeding your color expectations. Offering: Full coverage of un-pigmented/grey hair Wide Selection of fashion shades High lifting colors Color Correction Now that your feeling a little better about knowing what kind of color is going onto your hair, Click the button below to get your color transformation started! xoxo Tension/ weight
Simple things like regularly wearing your hair in a tight ponytail can cause tension damage and breakage around your hairline. -Instead, try a looser ponytail or low bun! Sleeping with wet hair can cause damage, breakage and fizziness due to friction. -Instead try washing in the morning, or blowing out your hair before bed + use a silk pillowcase! *Side note: If you have extensions, always remember to dry your hair post shower! The weight from the wet extension hair commonly causes breakage! Tools like blow dry brushes can make this 10x easier! We also love shower caps to keep our hair dry while showering in-between washes! Heat Heat is one of the top causes of damage to our hair. Whether you’re blow drying, curling or using a flat iron you should always use a lower setting AND using some type of heat protectant. Recommended Products -Kevin.Murphy’s Heated.Defense + Shimmer.Me Blonde for extra protection! Over processing Damage from over processing is common especially when trying to achieve a bright blonde. But we’re here to take the extra precautions to keep your hair healthy! Its very important to trust your stylist + trust the process! Nine times out of ten, when we see an inspiration picture that is blonde we will explain how blinding is a process and it may take a few sessions to achieve. This is because we don’t want to push your hair into something it can’t handle and cause breakage! Recommended Remedies -Frequent trims -Using salon grade products -Doing a hair masque/treatment once a week -Creating a hair plan to map out when you can achieve your end goal while still maintaining healthy hair |
